摘要 1491161 Expanded foods & Fish bait TROUW & CO NV and MACHINEFABRIEK LALESSE BV 8 Jan 1975 [8 Jan 1974] 819/75 Headings A1A and A2B Expanded foodstuffs are made by extruding an uncooked proteinaceous material and/ or urea at elevated temperature and pressure, the raw material having a moisture content of 12-20% by weight, the residence time of the material in the extruder feed chamber being 30-70 seconds and all free space in the feed chamber being filled with the material, so that the material expands and looses moisture on leaving the extruder. The material may contain up to 7% fat, 20-80% starch and up to 2% of an organic solvent e.g. glycerol other named ingredients are fish, meat, bone or blood meal, yeast, sugar, vitamins, minerals, soya protein, casein, maize, tapioca or potato starch, and glycerol monostearate. The product may be a dog or cat food, a ruminant feed, a sinking or floating fish food, a fish bait in the form of artificial worms, a textured protein, or a bread crumb product. An extruder suitable for carrying out the above process is described - see divisional Specification 1491162. Artificial worms for fish bait are made by extruding a mixture comprising maize (20% moisture) and urea, the moisture content of the mixture being 18% and the urea content 10%. The extruder temperature is not more than 90‹C and the product is in the form of a flexible rope which can be kept flexible by means of a moisture-tight packing.
