1491557 Turbomachine blades GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 24 Jan 1975 [28 May 1974] 3166/75 Heading FIT Damping of the vibrations of platforms 40 of rotor or stator blades 40 of a turbomachine, e.g. a compressor rotor as shown, is effected by a continuous, split or segmented wire core 58 surrounded by a spiral spring or a number of washer-like members, received in a channel defined between the platform 40 and the rim of the rotor disc 12. As shown, two such wires 58 are provided in rectangular channels defined between the platform and its side flanges 46, 48 and recesses 20, 22 in the disc rim. Centrifugal force forces the wire core and its casing radially out against the platforms, and the vibration energy is dissipated as heat by friction between the platforms and the casings and between the casings and the core.
|
