The paper tubes are made from three thickness of paper, which are perforated, glued at the edges, folded over and stuck down. They are separated at the perforations, and then cut in half. The tubes are to be used for making paper sacks, in a machine which requires them to be fed in with the cut ends all pointing the same way. This is achieved by sending the two kinds of cut halves along separate conveyors to separate stackers. Completed stacks (in each of which all the tubes point the same way) are fed to a station at which alternate stacks are sent forward unchanged, while the remainder are sent forward only after rotation through 180 deg. |
