1431584 Polyacrylonitrile/vinylidene chloride fibres RHONE-POULENC-TEXTILE 2 July 1973 [9 Aug 1972] 31393/73 Heading B5B [Also in Division C3] Flame resistant fibres of acrylonitrile and vinylidene chloride units having a chlorine content of 25-40% by wt. are wet spun from an aqueous solution of a polar organic solvent containing a mixture of two incompatible polymers containing the above specified units into a bath of water and a solvent for the polymers after which the coagulated fibres may be airdrawn, washed and hot drawn to produce fibres having a sticking point of 215‹ C. or above and a shrinkage of 32% or less when treated with steam at 130‹ C. The polymeric material is preferably a mixture of a polymer (A) comprising 79À5-58% acrylonitrile, 20-40% vinylidene-chloride and 0À5-2À0% of a comonomer giving dyeing affinity and a polymer (B) comprising 20-50% acrylonitrile and 50-80% vinylidene chloride, in a ratio of 65-75% copolymer A and 25-35% of copolymer B.
|
