<p>1441323 Lubricants CHEVRON RESEARCH CO 30 Aug 1973 [31 Aug 1972] 40971/73 Heading C5F A composition, which may be itself a lubricant or an additive concentrate for use in making lubricants, comprises an oil of lubricating viscosity and dispersed in the oil by means of a lipophilic surface-active agent an alkali-metal borate and a C 12 to C 20 monohydric aliphatic alcohol. The preferred alcohol is oleyl alcohol, but many others are referred to. The oil may be mineral or synthetic, e.g. olefine polymers, alkylated aromatic hydrocarbons, polyalkylene oxides, aromatic ethers and silicones. The surfactant may be ionic or nonionic or a mixture of the two, many are listed. The compositions may be prepared by dissolving the borate in water, emulsifying this solution in the oil and dehydrating by heating. Other additives may also be present. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,337,360.</p> |
