1413699 Two-part coupling SIEMENS AG 19 Dec 1973 [20 Dec 1972] 58721/73 Heading H2E A multipolar plug and socket has longitudinal walls to prevent contact with and to protect contact blades. The socket assembly has a push-on cover 11 which slides over the edge of the spring strip 7 and is held in place by lugs 9 projecting from the spring strip engaging in windows 8 of the cover 11. The contact springs 21 are located opposite the blade receiving apertures 31 in the cover by internal ribs 32 attached to the cover which pass between the contact tongues 33 of the springs. Each of the plug and socket bodies has mounting flanges 34 which have coding arrangements to prevent mis mating. These arrangements may be hexagonally based bodies (Fig. 3, not shown) which locate in hexagonal recesses 40 in the flanges, the upper interacting halves being semi-cylindrical. Location marks 13, 14 are provided and a dot on the hexagonal body permits identification of the various possible positions. Projections 25 on the push-on cover 11 co-operate with similar recesses on the mating part to prevent insertion of a plug when rotated 180 degrees. |
