<p>Detergent-dispersant additives comprises products obtd. by neutralising a mixt. of (a) a sulphurised alkylphenol and (b) a Mannich base with an alkaline earth metal oxide or hydroxide in a hydroxylic solvent at elevated temp., and reacting the neutralised mixt. with CO2. Component (a) has a S content of >=4 (pref. 4-20) wt. % Component (b), which has a N content of >=2 (pref. 2-10) wt.% and a mol. wt. of >=600 (pref. 600-5000), is prepd. from an alkylphenol, formaldehyde and a polyamine of formula H2N(ANH)nH (where A is 2-8C alkylene; n = 1-10) The products have a lower 210 degrees F viscosity (e.g. 231-512 cS) than similar products prepd. without carbonation, while having a comparable base no. (e.g. 198-206 mg KOH/g), metal content (e.G. 4.05-4.19%) and S content (e.g. 2.49-2.87%).</p> |
