The break jack, for telephone equipment, consists of pairs of spring contact fingers aligned inside an isulating housing. The fingers of each pair can be separated by inserting a plug. The equipment may be assembled rapidly. The housing is rectangular and has profiled keyways to hold the fingers (3). The fingers are inserted into their respective keyways and a suitably profiled block (6) is pressed down between the fingers in each pair into the top of the keyway. This block holds the fingers in place by pressing their top ends outwards against the inside of the housing. The plugs are inserted from the bottom.
