<p>Guide roll track for continuous casting plants, using a chassis contg. two parallel rows of rolls. The gap between the rolls can be continuous adjusted by using packing pieces between the roll chocks and between the chocks and the chassis. In one pref. design, wedges are driven by turning a threaded bolt to a clamp a stack of packing pieces forming the roll gap, whereas in an alternative design a hydraulic screw is used to clamp the packing pieces. The gap between the rolls, which forms the thickness of the cast billet or slab, can very easily be adjusted to compensate for roll wear and packing pieces are easily added or removed to obtain the different thicknesses required for various prods.</p> |
