The centrifugal governor weights (12) are joined by elbow levers (13) to a sliding sleeve (14) to transfer an adjusting movement to a connecting lever (18) attached to the fuel pump rack (21). The connecting lever is joined to the accelerator rod (24) by a pivot pin (23) which extends into the curved guide path (26) of a plate (31) suspended by spring force (28) to the regulator housing (17). The sprung plate forms an energy store and serves to provide a fuel over-feed when actuated by the regulator (33). The regulator (33) is a pivot lever coupled to the governor sliding sleeve (14). The lever is pivoted to a spring tensioned bolt (34a) at its lower end. The upper end has an outer curved surface (38) which works together with the accelerator rod pivot pin (23) to give a negative adjustment in the fuel load position.
