The holder for a transport container is mounted below the container so that it can engage with the inserted fork of a fork lift truck. The holder is approx. U-shaped with arms (4, 6) which converge. One arm (4) is shorter than the other (6) and has an inward bent flange (7) which may be straight or curved depending on design. The holder is swivably suspended from an axle (3) located at the junction between the shorter arm (4) and the base on whose inner surface may be attached a swivable locking arm (11). When the lifting fork (8) is inserted into the holder it penetrates to a point near to the holder's mounting axle (3). On raising the fork, the holder swivels about its axis until the upper short arm rests on top and the lower long arm on the bottom of the fork. The tip of the fork becomes engaged with the tip of the locking arm (11) so that overall a safe and secure coupling between the fork and transport container holder is effected prior to lifting. |
