The combustion shaft is elastically supported by a ring carried by a pressurised fluid, and has a construction at its lower end joined via a cooling ring to a curved duct through which the combustion gases enter the shaft. The pressurised fluid is pref. fed from an upper reservoir into a bellows compensator forming the elastic support for the combustion shaft; and a second bellows compensator, fed by the same fluid is pref. employed to support the curved duct. Both the curved duct and the combustion shaft are provided with elastic mountings which allow for the contraction and expansion caused by temp changes.
