The composite metal frame section for windows or doors where the outer metal skins are combined with a heat-insulating plastic section sandwich between the two metal skins. The design consists of metal frame parts (1) and (2) with insulating part (3) between the two. The insulating part is of some plastic material, such as polyamide and acts as distancing element for the two outer metal parts. The insulating part (3) has an I-shaped cross section with the web of the I-shape extending laterally to the gap between the two metal parts. The flanges (5, 6) of the insulating part (3) have extensions (7) on their extreme edges which engage with back tapered grooves (8) on the metal parts (1 and 2). The upstanding edges (12) of the grooves rest in positioning grooves (9) on the insulating part (3). All positioning grooves are orientated in the same direction, so that all upstanding edges (12) point in opposite direction. When both metal parts are in position, the bottom flange parts (13) are bent into the corresponding recess on the insulating part (3).
