<p>The penetrating tool is used for cutting deep axial or radial grooves in parts of large diameter. The main problem with cutting deep grooves, is the forming and breaking up of swarf in such a way that it does not get jammed in the groove. The material which is removed from the groove can be divided in two, if two cutters are used with cutting edges on either side of the tool and in which one cutting edges leads the other. For this purpose, two cutter bits (3, 4) of identical shape but with the cutting edges facing outward, are mounted on a tool holder (1). The two cutter bits are mounted in separate planes.</p> |
