1490480 Machinery guards DEERE & CO 29 July 1976 [21 Aug 1975] 31606/76 Heading F2J A tractor power take-off shaft shield assembly 20 comprises an inverted U-shaped channel member 22 which is pivotally mounted about pins 50 on projecting arms 16 arranged each side of the power take-off shaft 12 at the rear of the tractor 10, the pins 50 engaging elongated slots 32, 34 each side of the channel member 22 whereby the member 22 may be pivoted upwardly (shown chain-dotted) from the lowest, i.e. horizontal position (shown in full) to one of a number of positions, to suit varying diameter power take-off shaft universal joint assemblies 54, 56 selectively connected to the power takeoff shaft 12, and retained in any set position by one or other of a series of notches 36a-36c and 38a-38c at the rear edges of the side walls 26, 28 of the member 22 which engage pins 52 in the projecting arms 16 on the tractor 10. The shield assembly member 22 is augmented by a pivoted flap 40 which serves to cover the gap at the top of the power take-off shaft between the back edge of the channel member 22 and the tractor 10, the pivoted flap 40 merely sliding up the top face of the channel member 22 as the member 22 is pivoted from the horizontal position to one of its upwardly inclined positions, as shown dotted, after first being released from its simple locking position with a raised portion 30 on the member 22 when both are in the lower, i.e. horizontal position as shown in full. |
