1462994 Stabilised aspirin RESEARCH CORP 5 April 1974 [13 April 1973] 15154/74 Heading A5B A stabilised aspirin composition, preferably anhydrous, comprises a mixture of aspirin and a polyhydric alcohol having at least one terminal OH group, the protein of which is replaced by a blocking group such that transerterification between the polyhydric alcohol and aspirin is at least partially hindered. The blocking group may be formyl, acetyl, propionyl, butryyl or C1-C4 alkyl. The polyhydric alcohol may be a polyalkylene glycol, a poly (alpha, #)-alkylenediol, an alkylenediol or an alkanetriol. In the Examples, methoxypolyethylene glycol and polyethylene glycol acetate are used as the blocked polyhydric alcohols. The compositions are said to be more stable than those wherein unblocked polyhydric alcohols are mixed with aspirin in liquid form. |
