1490415 Non-digestible starch esters of polybasic acids PFIZER Ltd 20 July 1976 [21 July 1975] 30401/75 Heading C3U [Also in Division A2] A process for preparing a non-digestible food additive comprises heating a mixture of starch or a starch hydrolysate with an edible di- or tribasic carboxylic acid or anhydride at 140- 220‹ C. under reduced pressure until a non- digestible product has formed as determined by its resistance to the action of amylolytic enzymes, the mixture having prior to and during such heating a moisture content of less than 5 wt. per cent water and containing 1-25 wt. per cent of the edible acid (or equivalent amount of anhydride). The acid is preferably citric acid. |
