The wind energy recovery system incorporates a mechanism driven directly or indirectly by the wind. The mechanical energy produced is converted into heat for warming buildings or use in processing etc. The torque-speed characteristic of the heat-generating system can be matched to the wind-driven mechanism, and the heat can be transmitted to a central heating system. There can be a windmill (1) with a horizontal shaft coupled to a vertical one (2). The latter passes through the foundation and supporting structure (4, 5) and drives a bladed rotor working with stator blades inside a vessel. Heat is generated in water flowing along the return pipe to the central heating boiler.
