1328395 Springs COMPRET NV 7 Dec 1971 [8 Dec 1970] 58264/70 Heading F2S [Also in Division A6] A physical exercising apparatus comprises a pair of elongate members 1, 2 coupled at a junction 5 so that the members make an angle of less than 180 degrees with each other, and gripping means 13, 14. The members 1, 2 and junction 5 operate to oppose movement of the gripping means towards or away from one another as the exercizer is used for pulling exercises in direction A or pushing exercises in the opposite direction. In the embodiment shown, the members 1, 2 comprise a single resilient spring steel rod or tube and at least one coil of the rod or tube 6 constitutes the junction 5. The end portions 7, 8 are partly coiled 9, 10 to engage the bases of circumferential grooves 11, 12 in the gripping members 13, 14 which have apertures 15, 16 for gripping by hand or so as to pass over a user's feet. The members 1, 2 may subtend an angle of 60 degrees, for example, for both pushing and pulling exercises or they may lie generally parallel with one another for pushing exercises alone or they may be arranged at an obtuse included angle for pulling exercises. The coil 6 may be replaced by a non-deformable support. In another embodiment, the members 1, 2 are rigid and connected by a leaf spring (17), (Fig. 2, not shown). Alternatively the members may be flexible and connected by a rigid junction or one flexible member only may be provided.
|
