Spring retainer for circular shafts and housings - has spring fingers which bite into shaft or housing surface

The spring retainer is in the form of a disc (10) with a central hole (11). Spring fingers (30) are formed by pairs of parallel slits (20) extending radially inwards from the outer edge for about half the disc radius. The disc dia. is reduced in the regions (18) between the fingers (30). The fingers (30) are bent at an angle to the plane of the disc so that when the retainer is fitted into a circular housing the fingers bite into the surrounding wall. The retainer (10) thus retains any shaft passing through the central hole (11) with its shoulder abutting against the edge (14). The retainer (10) may also be made with slits (20) radiating from the central hole.
