The ammunition container is particularly for a rifle grenade having a tubular body of a material such as reinforced plastics. At one end is a ring (7) positioning and locking an internal plug fixed to the grenade. This has an elastic distorting joint and a handle (13), working in conjunction with parts of the ring so as to position the plug correctly for locking or unlocking. The joint acts both as a seal and as a locking device. The plug may be a joint box, with a joint (10) between two walls (11,12) movable in relation to each other. The joint is compressed between them when the grenade is in position and the plug locked.
