<p>The electromagnetic balance comprises a fixed base (10) which a magnet (107) is mounted and a mobile unit comprising a plate (12) on which objects to be weighed are placed one or more electromagnetic coils (122) connected to the plate (12) and placed near the magnet (108) so that a vertical restraining force is exercised on the plate (12) when a current flows, and a variable amplitude current supply (20) for this coil (122). An electrical contact is provided also, this comprising a fixed contact element (18) on the base and a mobile contact element (16) on the mobile unit. The state of the electrical contact is used to control the current supply to the coil. The current applied to the coil may be determined instantaneously from a change of state of the contact. The current determines the weight of the object placed on the platform or plate.</p> |
