The self-supporting cover or shingle-board has one or more cloths of non-cellulose fibre, and a section of cellulose cardboard, preferably with non-fillerised bitumen. The cardboard can be a cellulose-base plate saturated with bitumen or pitch, and the cloth can be of glass or asbestos fibre, rock wool, or any organic non-cellulose fibre. It can be added at any stage in the manufacture of the cardboard, i.e. when moist, after painting or the application of the finishing coat, either to the surface or to the inside. The cloth can be secured to the cardboard by glue, particularly bituminous glue, or a suitable binder, or by interweaving the fibres.
|
