The heat storage and recovery system transfers heat between the porous permeable rock of a captive stratum and the free intergranular water circulated through it. It comprises two wells or groups of wells which are reversible, one ending in a "hot" and the other in a "cold" area of the stratum. A primary circuit incorporates the wells, the stratum, and a loop, external to the stratum, connecting the wells in the "hot" area with those in the "cold" one. The stratum water is circulated in a first direction, so that it flows in the loop from the cold to the hot area, and also in the reverse direction. An indirect heat exchanger transfers heat to the primary circuit when circulation is in the first direction and from it to a secondary utilisation circuit when it is in the reverse direction. Means are also provided for flow and pressure regulation in the primary circuit, whichever the flow direction.
|
