Automatic fibre stretch meter for cervical mucus - determines elongation at constant rate and detects rupture

An automatic fibrosity meter is used to determine the elongation of the cervical mucus extracted from mammals. It can perform an objective measurement of the fibrosity. The mucus (1) is placed on an electrically conductive plate (2) and gripped at one of its ends by a clamp (3). The calmp (3) is part of a bracket (4). This bracket (4) is fixed at one end of a slide (5). The slide can be moved along a groove (6) by a motor-driven rack and pinion (7). The slide (5) also has an index (11) which moves over a scale (10) with graduations. The mucus (1) can be stretched at constant rate by the motor-driven rack and pinion. An electric circuit (101, 102) between the clamp (3) and the pale (2) is used to detect rupture of the mucus.
