The drive is intended for high voltage switchgear is encapsulated switching cubicles. An insulated toothed belt (15) runs over to belt pulleys on the drive (12) and switch shaft (14). The belt pulleys (10, 13) are made of insulating plastics. The belt pulley (10) on the drive shaft is preferably formed as a complete element. This belt pulley has recesses, or cams, for limit stops and switch position indicator. The belt pulley (13) on the switch shaft is of the same type and forms a clutch between a force store and the switch shaft. The clutch may have a freewheeling motion for a rocker spring drive. The belt drive may be mounted a lateral cubicle frame for the respective switch.
