The motor vehicle combustion engine (10) with liquid coolant is arranged inside an enclosure (7) together with a heat exchanger (26) for the coolant. At least one additional heat exchanger (21) for the coolant is arranged outside the enclosure. A cooling fan (13) arranged inside the enclosure may be driven by the engine via a variable transmission such that, at low engine speed, the fan speed is high, and at increasing engine speed, the fan speed is reduced. The air flow from the cooling fan passes through at least one additional heat exchanger (27, 28) inside the enclosure for the cooling of other media such as transmission oil or the medium used in the air conditioning installation.
