The seed mats are made in two parts joined together, and made of coarse-woven fibres arranged in strip form and impregnated with fertiliser. The seed mat is then lightly sprayed with water-soluble flexible adhesive onto which the seed is then applied to the thickness and density required. The second part of the mat is then pressed by machine onto the base mat so that the seed is in the middle. Both mats are then stitched over with large stitches, so that the two mat parts form a compact yet flexible unit. Nylon thread is incorporated for reinforcing banks. The seed mats are laid over previously rolled ground and anchored with pegs, then covered with earth, and rolled again.
