<p>The multi circuit air brake has a series of protection valves, with one valve for each circuit. The valves isolate defective circuits without affecting the function of the remaining circuits. Each valve incorporates two opposing elements joined by a tension gar (6), and with the separate pistons movable on the bar. The opposing design sets a level of pressure at which the valve opens, corresponding to the spring pressure and the effectiveness of the circuit. If the circuit becomes defective, and the rear of the valve is vented, then the effect is to shift the opening pressure of the valve to a higher setting, and effectively shut off that circuit. No pressure loss is experienced in the rest of the system.</p> |
