<p>Anti-inflammatory medicaments for local treatment of skin disorders contain 11-oxo-6, 11-dihydro-dibenz b,e -oxepin-alkanoic acids of formula (I) or other precursors of formula (II), or salts of (I) or (II): (where Y is H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, halogen or CF3; R is H or 1-6C alkyl; n = 1-7). Cpds. (I) and (II) have similar or superior activity to steroid anti-inflammatory agents when applied locally, and are free of steroid-type side effects. Cpds. (II), and also 3-(6,11-dihydro-11-oxo-dibenz b,e oxepin-2-yl)propionic acid (Ia), have little or no systemic activity.</p> |
