The breech block for double baralled firearms is used in shot guns with vertically superposed barrels. The breech block has firing pin openings aligned with the barrels. The firing pins are actuated in turn by a pivoted element in the breech block housing. The firing pin hammer device is held by ratchet mechanism and it has a cocking device. The cocking element (12) is guided in a triangular guide (38) with two long arms against the bearing element (4). The alignment of the hammer (6) is fixed for the given barrel firing pin opening (3a, 3b) by an arresting mechanism released by the cocking element (12). The guiding (39, 40) have a V shape and the cocking element is held against the V shaped device by the arresting device (44).
