摘要 The process consists of contacting a soln. contg. a first ion with an emulsion which has an external phase immiscible with the soln. and which contains a complexing agent capable of forming a first complex with the first ion, soluble in the external phase. The emulsion has an internal phase, in which, is a second ion, capable of converting the first complex into a second complex by replacement of the first ion of the first complex. The second complex is also sol. in the external phase, so that the first ion diffuses from the soln. into the internal phase. The first ion is pref. a metal ion, e.g. copper, or a complexion e.g. Hg Cl4. The second ion is hydrogen or hydroxyl. The complexing agent is an ion exchange material sol. in oil, e.g. an amine or an oxime insol. in the aq. soln. and pref. insol. in the internal phase. Samples taken at 0,2,5,10 min. show pH 2.49-2.04, 2.52-1.94, 2.50-2.13. After 5 min the proportion of Cu extracted by the liq. membrane emulsion in the three tests is 94.0, 99.0, 98.6 of that originally present. In another test described, an emulsion having an outer phase LIX 64N 15%, pd% 2%, Isopar M 83% and an inner phase CuSO4 5H2O 17.7%, H2SO4 5.7%, H2O 76.6% in wt. ratio 2:1, is treated at 4000 r. p. m. for 30 min. sepg. 90%of the outer phase. The remaining viseous phase is treated with an aq. soln. CuSO4 12.5%, H2SO4 11.7% at 15000 r. p. m. for 4 min. A wt. ratio of 10:1 of liq. added to the gel gives a large demulsification.
