摘要 1457326 Riveting TUCKER FASTENERS Ltd 9 April 1974 [10 April 1973] 15573/74 Heading B3U A blind riveting tool comprises a mandrel gripping chuck mechanism 24, 25, 27 which is axially movable by motor driven threaded drive members 15, 18, means 40, 41 for preventing rotation of one of the members 18 during the rivet setting and return stroke of the chuck mechanism and a one-way slip clutch 33, 38 to enable the one member 18 to rotate when the chuck mechanism abuts a stop 6 at the end of its return stroke. An externally threaded drive shaft 18 carrying the chuck mechanism 24, 25, 27 is connected by screws 34 to a clutch sleeve member 33 having dog claws 35, Fig. 4, against which a similar clutch member 38 encircling the shaft 18 is urged by a spring 39. The clutch member 38 is provided with pins 40 projecting into longitudinal slots 41 in a housing 5 of the tool to allow axial movement of the clutch member 38 but prevent it from rotating. In operation, a spindle 8 carrying a nut 15 in threaded engagement with the shaft 18 is rotated by an electric motor to cause the shaft 18 to move rearwardly so as to set the rivet. When a pin 11 is moved by a pusher 21 on the shaft 18, a microswitch 14 is operated to reverse the electric motor and move the shaft 18 forwardly. The chuck jaws 25 are forced apart when they engage a nosepiece 6 allowing the broken mandrel to be ejected by a spring biased ejector 30. When a jaw case 24 abuts the nosepiece 6, the force of the clutch spring 39 is overcome and the clutch member 38 cammed out of contact with the clutch member 33 thereby allowing the shaft 18 to rotate with the nut 15.
