<p>1447783 Hair dyeing BRISTOL MYERS CO 23 Nov 1973 [24 Nov 1972] 54470/73 Heading D1B Hair dyeing compositions are prepared by mixing in water a dye which is N<SP>1</SP>, N<SP>4</SP>, N<SP>4</SP>-tris (2<SP>1</SP>-hydroxyethyl)-2-nitro-p-phenylenediamine in a concentration adequate to colour the hair with at least one aminohydroxy alkailne agent of formula (I) in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are hydrogen, hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl group, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are hydrogen or C 1 to C 3 alkyl groups, or C 1 to C 3 mono hydroxyalkyl groups, providing that both R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are hydrogen only when either R<SP>1</SP> or R<SP>2</SP> is hydroxyethyl or hydroxyisopropyl, R<SP>5</SP> is hydrogen or a methyl group, there being sufficient alkaline agent present to produce an alkaline pH. Preferably there is 0.001 to 10% by weight based on the composition of dye and the pH is 7 to 11.5, the alkaline agent being diethanolamine, triethanolamine, 2-amino-2- methyl-1-propanol tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane, 2-amino-2-methyl-1, 3-propanediol, diisopropanolamine, and trisisopropanolamine, optionally additional solvents, surfactants, thickeners and antioxidants. The compositions may be used in the form of an aqueous emulsion, aerosol compositions, aqueous gels, creams, and lotions.</p> |
