The liquid level limiting value monitor, in the tank of a motor vehicle, has a guide tube and float in the tank. The guide tank (10) accommodates a coil (14) of an oscillator (16). The float (12) carries a ferrite core (13) which, in dependence on the level of the liq. more or less immerses into the coil (14). The oscillation amplitude of the oscillator (16) is variable in dependence on the depth of the ferrite core (13) immerses into the coil (14). An evaluation switching device (17) drives a signalling arrangement (18, 19) at a specific oscillation amplitude. The interior of the guide tube (10) houses a damping labyrinth (15) of known type for stabilizing the liquid.
