The system is for automating a cinema programme, engaging the desired film reels in the correct sequence. The film strip has a printed data track in the longitudinal direction in addition to the film to be projected. The data block is in a position on the strip corresponding to the start of the electronic programme. The length of the information block is a determinant of the information block concerned. An electrical signal is produced which is a function of the length of the information block. The signal is fed to a computer for processing and carrying out the appropriate technical functions.
