The use of a bolt as a guide-post for a nest of cup-springs present considerable expense of manufacture to achieve the necessary hardness, surface finish of the shank and dimensional accuracy. The latter is particularly stringent in the case of "friction arm" cup springs, where play between the guide and the spring will reduce its vibration resistance. To overcome these problems, a guide post is proposed which is in the form of a bush (3), pressed into a hole in the mounting plate (4). The bush may be so dimensioned that it is conical in the free state, becoming cylindrical when it is fitted.
|
