Presses for stamping out elaborate shapes in paper or cardboard often use tools made from steel strip with sharp cutting edges. These tools are used with rubber bolsters mounted on plywood bases. When cutting narrow shapes the rubber bolster can be damaged by the tool and rendered useless. An ejector which is located in a narrow recess consists of a plunger (4) mounted on a spring (7) fitting in a block (6). The assembly is fitted into a slot (2) in the base (1). The profile of the plunger (4) matches the shape of the narrow slot in the tool strip (3). When the press is operated the tool strip (3) compresses the rubber bolster (9) and the plunger (4). When the press. is released the plunger (4) is pushed upwards to release the stamping.
