<p>The pressure resistant piping is for the transport of fluids at great depths under the sea, being collapsible and partly or wholly of flexible or elastomer material enclosed by an unsealed pressure resistant sheath. The sheath comprises coiled or woven wire or tape forming components at regular intervals, in one or more layers, and welded or otherwise firmly secured together where they touch or cross. The components can be so shaped that adjacent coils hook together in the manner of armoured hose, but allowing the space enclosed to communicate with the outside. Adjacent turns are secured together by welding at regular intervals.</p> |
