Bearing housing for reciprocating piston pump - is fixed to casing by elastic ring in mating grooves

The bearing housing (2) contains radial and axial ball and roller bearings for the pump piston. At a point along its length it has an annular groove (6). There is a slightly larger groove (4) in the inner surface of the pump casing (1) at a point which will match the groove in the bearing housing when the two are in their assembled position. An elastic ring (3) is placed in the groove (4) in the pump casing and fills this completely in its unloaded position. The bearing housing is then slid in axially. A screw (7) in a hole perpendicular to the grooves is tightened onto the ring which it compresses so that it is half in the pump casing and half in the bearing housing.
