<p>1489392 Colour formers CIBA-GEIGY AG 13 Nov 1974 [29 Jan 1974] 49172/74 Heading C4P [Also in Divisions D2 and G2] Compounds of the formula wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , and R 4 each represent a C 1-4 alkyl radical or an aryl radical, X represents an O or S atom, n is 1 or 2, and the rings A and/ or B are optionally substituted by a C 1-4 alkyl radical or halogen atom are prepared by reacting at 150-220‹ C. naphtholactone of the formula with at least one aniline of the formula wherein Y and Y<SP>1</SP> each denote hydrogen, hydroxyl, or thiol and A, B, R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 have the indicated meaning. The preparation of a compound of the formula is exemplified. The compounds may be used as colour-formers in pressure-sensitive and heatsensitive recording sheets.</p> |
