1489468 Preparation of L-phenylalanine PFIZER Inc 21 Feb 1975 [22 Feb 1974] 7482/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for the preparation of L-phenylalanine which comprises (a) aerobically propagating a phenylalanine ammonia-lyase producing microorganism in an aqueous nutrient medium until substantial amounts of phenylanine ammonia-lyase are produced, (b) contacting the phenylalanine ammonia-lyase, optionally contained in the cells of the microorganism, from step (a) with NH 4 <SP>(+)</SP> and trans-cinnamate ions at a molar ratio of at least 2:1, the concentration of cinnamate ions being between 0À5 and 10% w./v. relative to the reaction mixture and allowing the reaction to proceed at 30‹ to 40‹ C. and pH 8À0 to 10À5 until the conversion to L-phenylalanine is substantially complete, and (c) separating and recovering the L-phenylalanine from the reaction mixture. |
