A printing ink which dries rapidly on heating, esp. under infrared radiation, contains (a) a hydrophobic phase composed of a nonpolar solvent, a modified phenol- or cresol-HCHO resin, a cross-linkable unsatd. polyester, a peroxide catalyst for the polyester and a pigment, and (b) an aq. phase which forms >=13 (15-25) wt % of the total ink. Drying is more rapid, less inks is needed and glossier printing is obtd. The ink is stable for ca 12 months at 20 degrees C. In is used on slightly porous surfaces, e.g. paper or cardboard. It is used on a non-porous surface, the usual special measures are necessary in order to attain rapid drying.
|
