The inlet gland is for the introduction of underground cables to a transformer substation, or similar unit, and forms a water-tight construction. The cable follows a horizontal pipe (12) round a 90 deg. bend and then follows upwards to one of a pair of short vertical standpipes (11). Above the upper end of the vertical pipes is a hinged cover lid (5), circular in plan, with a clamp bolt (6) diametrically opposite to the hinge (4), and a central fitting hole (19) for a lifting attachment. The bulk of the gland is below ground level. The base is embedded in concrete (13) and has a central drain plug (8). |
