An extractor and a process for extracting the active principle from a variety of materials e.g. roots, leaves, berries, and peel are described. A liq. solvent is introduced into a container and is subjected to forced circulation by means of a pump over material contg. the active principle situated in a perforated basket. Used for extracting chemicals from vegetable or animal tissue by using a pressurised container air-pockets are not formed.
