<p>1365653 Explosive compositions SOC NATIONALE DES POUDRES ET EXPLOSIFS 9 Feb 1973 [21 Feb 1972] 6522/73 Heading C1D A fusible explosive composition comprises 40-90% by weight of a crystalline explosive of high detonation velocity, and 60-10% by weight of TNT, from 10-50% by weight of the crystalline explosive being octogen and the remainder hexogen. The hexogen may be of different particle sizes and the octogen is preferably of size 300 microns or less. A co-crystallized mixture of hexogen and octogen, obtained during the manufacture of octogen from hexamethylene tetramine, may replace the octogen. The hexogen and octogen may be pre-coated with TNT. The inclusion of octogen decreases the melt viscosity and reduces the increase in viscosity during successive fusions.</p> |
