<p>Benzoquinolizinecarboxylic acids of formula (I), and their salts and 1-4C alkyl esters, are new: (where R1 is H, Me or Et; R2 is Me, Et, MeO, halogen, OH, NO2, NH2, MeCONH or HCONH; n is 0-2; when n is 2, R2 may be OCH2O or OCH2CH2O; and when R2 is other than Me, OH or halogen and n is 2, each R2 must be different). Antimicrobials, esp. broad-spectrum antibacterials with a good therapeutic index and also useful for disinfecting e.g. medical and dental equipment. Dose is up to 100 mg./kg./dose.</p> |
