<p>Chromone cpds. of formula (I) and their pharmacologically acceptable derivs. (e.g. esters of salts): (where R3 is H or 1-6C alkyl; R5 is H, OH, 1-6C alkoxy, 2-6C alkanoyloxy, 2-6C alkenyloxy, NO2, NR1R2, halogen, 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C hydroxyalkyl or 1-6C hydroxyalkoxy; an adjacent pair of X, Y and Z forms a (CH2)4, CH=CH-CH=CH or O(CH2)3 chain opt. substd by one or two 1-4C alkyl groups, the remaining group X or Z being (i) 2-6C alkenyl opt. substd. by phenyl, (ii) halogen, or (iii) 1-9C alkyl opt. mono- or polysubstd. by OH, halogen, oxo, phenyl or 1-6C alkoxy, or the remaining group X or Z can be H when the Z+Y or X+Y chain is substd. by 1-4C alkyl; R1 and R2 are H or 1-6C alkyl), have anti-allergic activity and can be used to treat asthma, hay fever, urticaria, etc; many of the cpd. give high resorption rates when administered orally.</p> |
