<p>Derivs. of formula Py-Ph-O-CH2-CHOH-CH2-NR1R2 (I) (where Py is opt. lower alkylated 1-pyrrolyl; Ph is phenylene; R1 is H or lower alkyl; and R2 is H, lower alkyl, aryl-(lower alkyl) or opt. functionally modified carboxy-(lower alkyl); or R1 +R2 is lower alkylene or oxa-, thia- or aza-(lower alkylene)), and the antipodes and salts of these cpds. have an anti-excitatory action. (I) block vascular and cardiac adrenergic beta-receptors and can be used for treating cardio-vascular disorders such as arrhythmias, angina pectoris and hypertension. (I) are also useful as inters. Typically, (I) can be obtd. by reacting a cpd. Py-Ph-OCH2X1-CH2Z1 with Z2-R1 or Z2-R2 (where one of the residues Z1 and Z2 is NHR2 or NH1 and the other is a reactively esterified hydroxy gp. and X1 is OH, or Z1 + X1 is epoxy and Z2 is -NHR2 or -NHR1).</p> |
