1534420 Heart valve prostheses SUTTER HOSPITALS MEDICAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION 31 Dec 1976 [14 April 1976] 54489/76 Heading F2V A heart valve 9 comprises an annular valve body 10 having a valve orifice therethrough, cages 14 and 16 for limiting the travel of a ball closure member (not shown), and an annular tubular suture ring 22 of tissue-ingrowth receptive expanded polytetrafluoroethylene secured in a groove 18 in body 10 whereby during implantation suture ring 22 is folded to form a first annular flange 40 having upper and lower walls 41 and 42 and a second annular flange 44 having upper and lower walls 46 and 48 so that flanges 40 and 44 bear against opposite side of living tissue and are held in place by sutures 52. In another embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), an annular strip of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene defining first and second flanges replaces tubular suture ring 22. |
